"The Career Search Begins"

From the JESNA briefing on October 6, 2006

The Jerusalem branch of the JESNA Graduate Seminar Career Choices in Jewish Education met for its first session last week. The group engaged in active dialogue with Jerusalem Fellow Saul Kaiserman on the topic New Directions for Careers in Jewish Education. Saul’s presentation included a discussion on current trends for professionals in the field, as well as an in-depth exploration of the societal trends that impact the profession. Saul brings to the discussion his own rich career in Jewish education, most recently as Director of Education at the Central Synagogue in New York City.

Seminar participants study at the Conservative Yeshiva, Pardes, or the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies and come from diverse backgrounds. The JESNA Graduate Seminar provides them an opportunity to explore the many opportunities to support Jewish education on their return to North America. The Seminar is also one of the few venues where participants in different programs have a chance to meet on a regular basis.

All involved found the session exciting, and look forward to the sessions coming up in the next few weeks.
